In the exhilarating second round of the 2019 NCAA tournament, as Iowa battled against Tennessee, CBS chose to capture the essence of the game by equipping me with a microphone during the game, enabling me to provide a glimpse into that captivating atmosphere.
During a challenging moment in the game, with adenaline coursing through my veins, I found myself exclaiming, “Let the Peacock Fly!”
Little did I know that this simple phrase would pave the way for a remarkable opportunity to offer vital support to Iowa’s educators at the onset of the COVID era.
For both Luka and myself, instilling the love of reading in young minds has always been a deep-seated passion. This fervor has led us to create a profound community outreach initiative that we lovingly refer to as “Let the Peacock Read”.
Our mission is to bring the priceless gift of reading to children from kindergarten to twelfth grade, not only across Iowa but also beyond its borders. Through our upcoming community outreach program, we will foster memorable reading experiences and learning moments featuring Luka’s exceptional friends and teammates, all with the singular aim of inspiring a resolute focus on the power of reading. With your help we are hoping to reach as many of Iowa youth as possible.
Please join us in our efforts to bring the gift of reading throughout Iowa and beyond.
